What forms and particle sizes of dehydrated potato does Dehydrated Veg offer?
Dehydrated Veg offers potato flakes, cubes/granules and powder. We can also process to a custom mesh size on request.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for potato?
25 kg for a trial order. For bulk and export orders the typical minimum is 100 kg.
What is the shelf life of potato, and how should it be stored?
Potato flakes, cubes and powder carry a 12-month shelf life from date of manufacture. Store in a cool, dry place below 20°C, in a closed warehouse, away from humidity and dust.
How does dehydrated potato compare to fresh potato in substitution ratio and flavour strength?
Dehydrated potato rehydrates at approximately 1:4-1:5, and the controlled drying process retains a clean flavour and consistent texture on rehydration, performing reliably in mash, snack and instant food formulations. We recommend requesting a free sample to test the exact substitution ratio for your specific formulation.
How fast can you ship potato samples and bulk orders?
Stock items typically ship the same day. Custom orders (specific particle size or packaging) usually take 2-3 working days.
Which industries use dehydrated potato, and what are its common applications?
Instant mashed potato and snack food manufacturing, extruded snacks and chips, instant noodles and soup mixes, bakery products, soup powders, and HoReCa kitchens.
Do you provide quality certifications and a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for dehydrated potato?
Yes, we provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and relevant quality documentation on request with each batch, covering parameters such as moisture, ash content and microbial testing. Share your specific certification requirement (FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, etc.) with our team before or during sampling.
What is the HS code for exporting dehydrated potato?
Dehydrated potato cubes/pieces are commonly classified under HS Code 0712.90 (dried vegetables, other) within Chapter 7, though potato flakes specifically may fall under HS 1105.20 (flakes, granules and pellets of potatoes) in Chapter 11 depending on processing. Please confirm the exact sub-heading with your customs broker for your destination country.
Is Dehydrated Veg's potato safe for direct consumption?
Yes. Our potato flakes, cubes and powder are food-grade, FSSAI-approved consumable ingredients, manufactured and packed under hygienic, quality-controlled conditions for direct use in food formulations.

Dehydrated Potato Flakes, Cubes and Powder
Potato is the one item on this list that doesn’t dry the same way as the rest of our vegetable range. Cubes and powder go through the standard route — wash, peel, cut, hot-air dry — but flakes are made differently: the potato is cooked and mashed first, then the mash is drum-dried into thin sheets and broken into flakes. That’s a cooking process as much as a drying one, which is also why flake colour (white) and cube colour (pale yellow) sit differently on the same spec sheet even though both start from the same raw potato.
Cubes, Flakes and Powder
Cubes are cut to 10-15mm and go through simple hot-air drying — no standard flake size is fixed for this form beyond that. Flakes come off the drum-drying line and rehydrate almost instantly into a smooth mash texture, which is what instant mash, extruded snack and health-food producers are buying it for. Powder is milled fine, for gravies, masala bases and premixes where potato is used as a texturiser or bulking agent rather than a visible piece.
Processing
Farm potatoes are inspected and graded on arrival. For cubes, that means washing, peeling and cutting before hot-air drying; for flakes, cooking and mashing come first, followed by drum-drying and flaking; powder can be milled from either dried cube stock or flake stock depending on the batch. All three are passed through metal detection and packed the same day to limit moisture pickup.
Where This Gets Used
Instant gravies, masala manufacturing, soup powders and food premixes are the main draw for potato powder. Extruded snack and health-food producers lean on flakes for their quick, smooth rehydration. Cubes go into instant food products where a distinct piece is wanted in the finished dish rather than a smooth reconstituted texture.
