What forms and particle sizes of dehydrated chives does Dehydrated Veg offer?
Dehydrated Veg offers chives flakes and powder. We can also process to a custom mesh size on request.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for chives?
25 kg for a trial order. For bulk and export orders the typical minimum is 100 kg.
What is the shelf life of chives, and how should it be stored?
Chives flakes and powder carry a 12-month shelf life from date of manufacture. Store in a cool, dry place, protected from humidity and dust.
How does dehydrated chives compare to fresh chives in substitution ratio and flavour strength?
The slow, low-temperature drying process is designed to retain the colour, texture and mild onion-like flavour of fresh chives, with the convenience of a 12-month shelf life and no cold-chain needed. We recommend requesting a free sample to test the exact rehydration ratio for your specific formulation.
How fast can you ship chives samples and bulk orders?
Stock items typically ship the same day. Custom orders (specific particle size or packaging) usually take 2-3 working days.
Which industries use dehydrated chives, and what are its common applications?
Snack foods, soup powders, health food, biscuits, salad dressings, egg and potato dishes, gravies, canned and frozen items, and ready-to-eat food products.
Do you provide quality certifications and a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for dehydrated chives?
Yes, we provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and relevant quality documentation on request with each batch, covering parameters such as moisture, ash content and microbial testing. Share your specific certification requirement (FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, etc.) with our team before or during sampling.
What is the HS code for exporting dehydrated chives?
Dried chives are commonly classified under HS Code 0712.90 (dried vegetables, other) within Chapter 7 of the Harmonized System. Please confirm the exact sub-heading with your customs broker for your destination country.
Is Dehydrated Veg's chives safe for direct consumption?
Yes. Our chives flakes and powder are food-grade, FSSAI-approved consumable ingredients, manufactured and packed under hygienic, quality-controlled conditions for direct use in food formulations.
Does Dehydrated Veg send free samples to customers?
Yes, we provide free samples of up to 50g per product, for a maximum of 5 products per request.

Dehydrated Chives Flakes & Powder
This is our vibrant-green chives grade — a slower, lower-temperature drying cycle than our other chives line, run to hold onto colour for applications where visual appeal on the finished product matters, like a biscuit topping or a chip seasoning dust that needs to read as fresh green on shelf.
Four Cut Sizes, Not One Range
Rather than a single particle-size range, this line is cut to four fixed sizes on request — 1x1mm, 2x2mm, 3x3mm and 5x5mm — plus a milled powder. That level of grading control exists because the applications this grade goes into are more visually particular than a typical seasoning blend: potato chip and biscuit manufacturers coating a product surface need a consistent, fine, evenly-adhering flake, while soup and instant-food producers can work with a coarser cut. Powder is milled separately for formulations needing full dispersion rather than a visible piece.
Processing
Fresh green chives are inspected and graded on arrival, then cut to the requested size and dried under a controlled, lower-temperature hot-air cycle designed to protect colour over speed. Dried product is sieved for particle consistency, metal-detected, and packed in PP bags followed by a carton box to protect colour retention in transit and storage.
Where It’s Used
Biscuit and snack manufacturers use this grade specifically for its colour — a pale or faded chives flake doesn’t read well on a finished product surface. Potato chip seasoning is the same story: a fine, bright-green flake or powder is part of what makes the seasoning look appetising on the bag. Instant food, RTE mixes and soup manufacturers use either flakes or powder depending on whether the finished product should show visible green pieces.
